Eight out of ten Swedes in favour of further use or development of nuclear power – just a small change as compared to the measurement of spring 2007

The number of Swedes willing to use or develop nuclear increased from 77 % in February 2007 to 79 % in May 2007. Those who prefer to phase out nuclear is almost unchanged, i.e.19 % (20 % in February).

The poll also asked the Swedes to estimate the safety at the Swedish NPPs. On a scale from 1 to 10, where 10 is the highest level of safety, the average level decreased from 7.6 in June 2006 to 7.1 in February 2007 and to 7.0 in May.

The poll was carried out by the Swedish polling organisation Synovate Temo on behalf of The Analysis Group of the Swedish Nuclear Training and Safety Center (KSU) in the period of May 2–May 10 2007.
